Breast Cancer Surgery & Lifestyle Medicine

Kristi Funk, MD, FACS, DipABLM is a double board-certified breast cancer surgeon and lifestyle medicine doctor, bestselling author, international keynote speaker and women's health advocate. After graduating with distinction from Stanford University in 1991, Dr. Funk received her medical degree from the UC Davis, School of Medicine, and completed her surgical residency in Seattle, WA, followed by a surgical breast fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she excelled as a Director of their Breast Center until 2009. Dr. Funk then co-founded the Pink Lotus Breast Center in Los Angeles where she practices as a breast cancer surgeon and expert in minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment methods for all types of breast disease. She has helped thousands of women navigate breast issues, including well-known celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Sheryl Crow. She is the go-to breast expert for Good Morning America and Dr. Phil's Merit Street Media; she was a co-host of The Doctors tv show, and has repeatedly appeared on Today, Rachael Ray, The Dr. Oz Show, CNN, The View, and more, as well as countless radio and podcast interviews. Dr. Funk has received dozens of honors and awards and uses her appearances to educate and give back to the community. She resides in Los Angeles, CA, with her husband, Andy Funk, and triplet sons.

Dr. Yuki Takasumi

Breast Pathology

Dr. Yuki Takasumi is a staff pathologist at Saint John's Health Center with subspecialty interest in breast pathology and neuropathology. She completed medical school at Tufts University in 1995 followed by anatomic and clinical pathology residency at UCLA Medical Center in 1999. After surgical pathology fellowship at LAC + USC Medical Center, to supplement her focus on breast pathology, she spent time as a physician observer of expert breast pathologist Dr. David Page's consult service at Vanderbilt University. Similar time was spent at Stanford University Medical Center and Mayo Clinic Rochester consult services prior to joining the pathology group at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, CA in 2001. At Saint John's, she has been the lead pathologist for the breast section and supports activities such as Multidisciplinary Breast Tumor Board and the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship program. She is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists. She is a member of the California Society of Pathologists and Los Angeles Society of Pathologists.

Dr. Karyn Eilber

Urology & Urogynecology

Dr. Karyn Eilber is one of the few board-certified female urologists in the Los Angeles area that is also board-certified in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) as well as being a certified menopause practitioner. Dr. Eilber received her medical degree from the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine then completed her urology residency and fellowship at UCLA. After fellowship, Dr. Eilber joined the Department of Urology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before returning to her native California. She joined Cedars-Sinai in 2010 and is a Professor of Urology and an Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology. She served as the Chair of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Group Department of Surgery and Site Director for the Cedars-Sinai/USC URPS fellowship until 2026 when she transitioned to private practice. Dr. Eilber's clinical research focuses on female pelvic disorders and sexual function. She has published multiple articles and given numerous presentations at national and international meetings. She is co-author of "A Woman's Guide to Her Pelvic Floor: What the F*#@ Is Going On Down There?", a founding physician with Monarch MD, a physician in residence with the Atria Health and Research Institute, a founding medical partner of Doctorpedia, helped develop Femetry supplements for bladder health, and frequently speaks out on women's pelvic health and hormonal issues.

Dr. Pejman Cohan

Endocrinology

Dr. Pejman Cohan is a board-certified endocrinologist in private practice at the Specialized Endocrine Care Center in Beverly Hills, California. He completed his medical degree, internal medicine residency, and fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Cohan specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pituitary tumors and related hormonal disorders. Within this specialty, he has a dedicated interest in hypopituitarism after traumatic brain injury, a field in which he led a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded clinical trial. His leadership experience includes serving as the Clinical Chief of Endocrinology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and as the Co-Director of the UCLA Pituitary Tumor and Neuroendocrine Program. Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Cohan remains active in medical education and clinical research. He has authored more than 40 scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, Pituitary, Critical Care Medicine, and Neurosurgery.

Reconstructive Surgery

Dr. David Sayah is a board-certified plastic surgeon with more than 26 years of clinical experience and a distinguished background in academic medicine, surgical research, and complex aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. His extensive training and experience, combined with his involvement in medical-legal case review, provide him with a well-rounded perspective on surgical care, medical decision-making, and standards of practice. Dr. Sayah earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from UCLA, where he was a member of the Honors College. During his undergraduate studies, he conducted research on immune-related proteins and developed a novel molecule to study enzyme function. His work earned him a prestigious scholarship and the opportunity to continue his research under Kenneth Reid at the University of Oxford. He returned to UCLA for medical school, where he continued to pursue clinical and translational research. He was awarded a research grant for his work investigating innovative treatments for prostate and kidney cancers and conducted additional research examining cardiac injury following coronary bypass surgery. Dr. Sayah graduated at the top of his medical school class, completed an honors thesis in surgery, and was selected to deliver the distinguished “Hippocratic Speech” at commencement. Dr. Sayah completed his General Surgery residency at NYU Medical Center, gaining extensive experience in trauma, critical care, and complex surgical management. He subsequently completed fellowship training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA Medical Center, one of the nation’s leading programs in the specialty. During his surgical training, he conducted research in breast reconstruction, ultrasonic liposuction, Endermologie, and the molecular biology of keloid scar formation. His research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at scientific conferences. He subsequently completed additional fellowship training in endoscopic plastic surgery, developing advanced expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques. Over the course of more than 26 years in practice, Dr. Sayah has developed extensive experience in aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, including the evaluation and management of complex surgical issues and complications.
